When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one woman, to dissolve the emotional bands which have connected her with a boyfriend, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of womanhood and of womanhood’s God entitle her, a decent respect to the opinions of womanhood requires that she should declare the causes which impel her to the separation. I hold these truths to be self- evident, that all women are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of the perfect guy! That to secure these rights; laws are instituted among women, deriving their just powers from the consent of the women.
That whenever any form of boyfriend, becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the woman to alter or to abolish him, and to institute a new boyfriend, laying his foundation on such principles and organizing the power in such form, as to them, the women, shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that boyfriends long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that women are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the relationships to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of laziness and pigheadedness, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is her right, it is her duty, to throw off such a boyfriend, and to provide a new boyfriend for her future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of this woman; and such is now the necessity which constrains me to alter my former relationship with said boyfriend.
