New Years Resolutions....

Since the beginning of time people have been making new years resolutions, a list of things that you will do better this year. And this year I have found myself contemplating what I would like to do better. Not that I am a great new years resolutionist but I feel that for me to actually obtain what I wish to achieve I must make just one resolution. One thing in my life that I feel needs to be changed. Now contrary to popular belief I am not perfect, I only do my best as the rest of you do as well, so when I say that I only have one resolution it's not that I only have one thing in my life that needs to be done better. I just feel it easier to accomplish something 100% when I give it my full attention.
And so this year I find myself searching for something to do better...I didn't have to search very hard however, because there was one personal flaw that has been brought to my attention several times in fact. This flaw that it even hurts to admit it was the fact that I am a world class jerk.
See I am Scottish (as you can tell by the title of this blog) but that makes me very opinionated and proud of my opinion. Let's just say right now that most of the time, not all of the time, but most of the time I am right. Not because of me, but I feel that it is a gift that God has graciously bestowed upon me...the gift of wisdom. But I have a bad BAD way of proving that I am right. I usually shove it in other peoples faces, and then I mock them for their bad opinion.
I don't think that I do this intentionally to hurt people, but I am just very proud that I am right. I would never WANT to intentionally hurt someone just because... but I was. I was intentionally hurting the people around me for my selfish pride. This I believe has a lot to do with trust...I don't trust other peoples opinions. I don't trust other people period.
And so this year I plan to trust other people...but most importantly I will appreciate their opinion simply cause it's their opinion whether it's right or not. People deserve to be appreciated in the least. And they definitely deserve to have their opinion understood and appreciated. I will be kinder and more appreciative and understanding in all aspects of my life... including while driving, which is what is the hardest for me. I am a mean very aggressive fast driver and I plan on working on that too!
